Ad campaign: brainstorming and storyboarding

Updated: Apr 23, 2019

For this week, we were given the task of brainstorming and storyboarding an ad campaign involving some aspect of story. I landed on creating an ad campaign for a make-believe nail polish company called Colorstay, which would be known for its quality, durability, and longevity.

I would want my advertisement to follow the different steps of one lady's life on a given day- so start with her hand slamming her blaring alarm clock to shut it off, then continuing to go through different parts of her day that all involve her hands, and therefore her nails (that are, of course, painted with Colorstay). I want this ad to be remarkable in its relatability and attention to raw detail rather than its glamour, so it will focus on things that are normal but focus on the fact that it all involves her hands and shows how good the nail polish is. My character will not be "put-together" or have an exceptionally spectacular schedule, but she will be real and able to make more effective connections with viewers. I want to show that she is complex and hard-working by showing her in all the different environments she might be in on a given day: cooking breakfast, taking notes in class, typing at work, petting her dog when she gets home, painting as a hobby, clicking a remote to wind down, etc.

I think that the most important thing in this will be not to plaster "COLORSTAY" everywhere, but to show the product in action and relate well to create that foundation, then incorporate towards the end a little tagline about the product itself and a memorable saying like "Colorstay, polish that sticks around no matter what day it is." or something catchier than that.

Thanks for looking.
